PayID is a free service that doesn’t allow you to
pay for "upgrades" or require any payment to set up, register or otherwise operate.
Additionally, AP+ says it’s carrying out "marketing campaigns" and working
with banks and government to ensure "simple messages" about
how PayID does and doesn’t work reach "as many people as possible".
They also say scammers are targeting the service because
it’s trusted by the public. People who don’t know anything about PayID and haven’t yet registered with the service are a prime target for scammers
